Adventure Wisconsin: Lakeshore State Park

Blogged while re-watching (for the bajillionth time) Season 1 of Sex & the City with a raspberry mojito in hand.

Lakeshore State Park

Weirdly enough, even though we live in Milwaukee, there is no shortage of parks. I even happen to live next to one. But today, we only had to travel about 15 minutes from the burbs to Lakeshore State Park, which is downtown. It's the only urban state park in Wisconsin, and is located along the lakefront. We parked in the Third Ward in the free parking at the end of Erie Street and walked all the way to McKinley Marina. We took the Hank Aaron Trail and connected to the Oak Leaf Trail, which actually at some point connects to the infamous Ice Age Trail, part of which we walked last week at Lapham Peak.  You pass a lot of landmarks along the way! Discovery World, Milwaukee Art Museum, Veteran's Park, McKinley Marina, and if you feel like walking further, many more! We were hungry by the time we walked back to the car, so we drove to Northpoint Custard for lunch. That would have only been another 30 minute walk on the path from where we had stopped. But I needed to get to the ice cream, pronto.

Another visual diary for you to feast your eyes on.
